A lot of money for nothing. It is the same old games we have seen for kids on the NES and N64 with two problems- the VSMILE has a VERY limited library. The games and system are expensive and has a very short age range. If you are looking for educational video games- buy a LEAPSTER. OR as I pointed out in my review for the Leapster, try picking up a used Nintendo Entertainment System and cartridges. It is a very easy system to use and you can get any used cartridges for around$2-5.
I say Phooey to the VSmile, it doesn't even offer any new technology. I must admit at first I was taken by its retro style and clever marketing but I think it is overall boring.

I was very disappointed in this item. It stopped working 2 weeks after we received it, we returned it to V-Tech and the sent us a new one. After about 3 weeks with the new one it stopped working. I felt the graphics were not very good also there are not many cartridges out there and once my son learned on game he became bored with it.

 My nephew's own computer game system, Apr 20, 2023
I purchased 2 systems for my nephew. One for home and one to play at his grandmother's. He loves to play on computers but the games are too sophisticated. This system allows him to play and learn without the complexity of a desktop computer or a more complex game system. My nephew is 4 years old and with one opportunity to plug it in to the TV, he intuitively began working through the machinations of making the system run. The joystick is easy to handle for his size hands . . . it can work for both left and right handers. With a little help he learned how to turn on the system, reset the game, change the cartridge and turn off the system. I was fascinated watching him teach himself how to play and challenge himself once he figured out the purpose of the game. He played with the buttons on the joystick until he figured out which one did what. This energized 4 year old sat for 90 minutes playing and learning. He also talked me through the games, letting me know what was happening and who the characters were. He likes the Spiderman, Scooby Do and Micky games. I am now ordering the Toy Story and Bob the Builder cartridges. He has a bag to take the cartridges back and forth between home and grandmother's house.

 Appropriate for young children but poor video quality, Apr 12, 2023
My son (almost 5) likes to play both the Alphabet Park and Spiderman games but I must admit that I was shocked at the poor quality of the video display. If he ever gets a look at the XBox or PS products I'm sure this unit would become a dust collector.

Not worth it., Mar 31, 2023
My 6 yr old daughter received this as a gift for Christmas. The games are too easy for her and she gets bored easily. There are not any games for her age that she will find challenging.
Also the joy stick does not respond well. Even I had trouble playing the game. It would not respond when I needed to jump or run.
I might exchange it for another game.
