Named after the French word for the rustle of silk, Frou Frou's debut album exudes cool, stylish elegance. Singer Imogene Heap's soft, whispery vocals intone dreamy lyrics of doomed romances and slow recoveries. The songs are penned by Heap and her partner, producer Guy Sigsworth (Björk, Madonna), who manned the board on Heap's 1998 solo album I Megaphone. Even the mighty Brian Eno gets into the act, with a cowriting credit on the soul-bearing "Hear Me Out." In fact, all 11 tracks deal with love and fractured relationships, hauntingly beautiful both in their stark emotional content and the equally sparse arrangements that showcase Heap's ethereal voice, which she uses as a subtle weapon, much like Joni Mitchell circa 1970's Ladies of the Canyon, with the same heart-stopping yet effortless octave leaps. --Jaan Uhelszki

Album Description
2002 debut album for duo comprised of musician/vocalist Imogen Heap & producer/arranger/songwriter/musician Guy Sigsworth (who's worked with Bjork on 'Homogenic' & 'Vespertine' & Madonna on 'What It Feels Like for a Girl').

Well I guess if you are into weird ass music this is a great cd for you. It's nothing like her smash hit "Let Go" from the Garden State soundtrack. I really didnt enjoy this cd too much. I would tell you to burn it before you buy it.

5Great album, Sep 13, 2023
Five stars all the way. I love Imogen Heap's airy voice and I find the musical arrangements very original and interesting. They carry a kind of atmosphere that penetrates the ear deeper than most music you will hear. All the songs are great and each one has something different to offer. Lyric wise this band comes out strong with vague and lyrics which lack a frankly unnecessary 'depth' but fit in this particular sound great. The best track on the album is still 'Let Go' which got me hooked in the first place. Highly Reccommended!

5it's all about the details, Sep 11, 2023
i bought the garden state soundtrack right after seeing the movie and i would be so excited every time "let go" came on. i knew i had to learn more about frou frou, but i never got the chance. i'm one of those people that has to research something completely before i buy it. well today at the record store she was just staring me in the face - and on a whim i bought her, only having heard that one song. so many bands out there are one - hit wonders and i was so hoping she wouldn't be. OH my goodness! this music is beautiful. i absolutely love it. it's music that i can fall asleep to (which in my case - is actually a good thing!) it's sweet, and beautiful, and serenading. i can't wait to listen to it more.

You will like this CD if you like Dido. This whole CD is so relaxing and I love the music. It sounds great in my car with the bass.
