5It may be flawed but its still good, Mar 28, 2023
First off i would like to say the guide is really helpfull for level 40 characters who have been wasting most of there time on leveling. This book helped me on things like mob elements and many easy money making quest. As far as the missons go I can tell why it stops at rank 5(Rank 5 is the rank where you can ride an airship and also th last rank to give any special things, like being able to enter a ballista match at rank 3). I read another review that said that it did not cover the conflict system wich i am happy it doesnt for it is explained several times during the game and also in the manual. Also the crafting part of the guide is better than decent for it covers the easy and helpfull crafts rather than the new lvl.150+ crafts which are for people lvl.60+. The only flaw in the game was that it did not cover the Zilart/Promithia mission but this is under standable for in no strategy guide has the ending been revealed and also finding out what happens on your own in an MMORPG is half the fun.()====()XXXXXXXXX>Bye.

2Strictly for beginners only, Mar 16, 2023
As many MMORPG guides are, this guide lacks a lot of detail in the lists (equip/craft/quest/mission/bestiary etc). Since stuff get added all the time.

It's only useful for a new playing, just entering MMORPG world, who might find the info at early sections of the guide interesting, the very basics.

Job descriptions are only partly correct, and job abilities, spells lists are out of date.

Equipment list was decent for its time of publishing, since then the number of equips probably doubled or tripled.

Guild recipes is one of the worst parts, it only tells you which rank the recipe is in (eg recruit, novice), but not the recipe cap, making it useless for someone skilling up a craft. Also it only covers up to Artisan rank (lvl80max). All the newly added recipes are not there of course.

Only a handful of quests are given for each realm, far less then the actual amount even at its time of publishing. Quest descriptions/guidance are insufficient for many quests.

Missions only go up to Magicite (Rank 5) for each nation. No rank 6-10, no Zilart, no Promathia.

Beastiery is fairly good, for the areas that it covers. I find the Lvl min-max range info useful. Some Zilart and all promathia areas are not covered.

A very basic skillchain chart is given, only covers up to the 150 skill WSs, and of course no lvl3 chains. There is a list saying which mob-family is weak to which elements, which I found useful. The new mob families introduced since zilart are not covered.

Magic and food effects tables were sufficient for its time, but now much has changed.

Overall it makes a pretty poor reference book, but the MMORPG world is ever-changing, so you can't really expect too much.

Not sure what guide your friend is using but there is nothing to any of these references in my guide. Would never have gotten half the quests I have completed done without it. It's an awesome guide and the summoner guide was very helpful telling you how to get the ruby, what weather is needed and listing in a table the 13+ areas to get them all. The guide on the WAR btw says that WAR/WHM is useful for SOLOING not partying. And the only reference I could find on the Jeuno/Choco thing was that when you reach 20 you can head to Jeuno for your Chocobo license.

4It's not that bad, Jan 27, 2023
It's this simple.. If you're new to role playing games or are less then lever 30 and don't have to be spoon-fed information, buy the book. If you're over level 30, been playing the game for a year or have to be handed information, then don't. I personaly find the book priceless. However, you may have to do a little digging to find what you want until you get use to the layout.

When i got this game, the guide really helped alot. It, however, dosn't cover all online gudes can, and has to be updated often. witch brings me to the point of saying: This is last season's version!~! This guide will not cover anything about Chains of Promithia
