Book Description
Let BradyGames Be Your Partner in Crime in San Andreas!

BradyGames' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Official Strategy Guide features a step-by-step walkthrough. Mission strategies to achieve every objective and detailed maps. Coverage of new character abilities, plus a showroom of all vehicles. Game secrets and hidden packages! Signature Series guide includes bonus content, a premium foldout, and much more! BradyGames is Official and Exclusive on this title. Platform: PlayStation 2 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the latest game in the world-renowned Grand Theft Auto franchise. The game features several new elements and revolves around three cities--Los Santos (based on Los Angeles), San Fierro (based on San Francisco), and Las Venturas (based on Las Vegas). Each city is relatively the size of Vice City--making it clear what the magnitude of the game is. Some of the new elements in this game include four-person drivebys, house break-ins and robberies, character abilities such as eating and swimming and more. The visual effects have also been improved with things like real-time reflections, fully rendered interior environments, and new camera controls. The storyline, set in the early 90s, centers on Carl Johnson, a man who escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas, five years ago. Now Carl's got to go home, and on his return to the neighborhood, he is framed for homicide.

2One Of The Worst Guides Ever Written, Jun 28, 2023
This strategy guide was so bad that I actually wrote a letter of complaint to BradyGames. I am a huge fan of their guides and purchase them for nearly every game that I own that has a BradyGames guide. The San Andreas guide, however, is an embarrassment to what is usually a very thorough and respectable company.

For someone who is simply playing the game and needs maps to get around then this guide should be perfect. If, however, you are a fanatic who is seeking to get 100% in the game then there are some major concerns that you should know about.

1) The number of Horseshoes that you need to collect is 50, not 100 as it is stated in the book.

2) Something like 4 or 5 of the photos for the Horseshoes are incorrect. I think they are taken from a Beta version of the game.

3) Nearly ALL of the Photo Op pictures are associated with the wrong locations.

4) There are at least a dozen weapons locations that are incorrect and three locations list weapons that do not exist in the game.

In terms of strategy and graphical content the guide is great, but outside of that I don't feel it is really worth the purchase. You can find many other guides that are more detailed (and correct!) for free if you look online.

1I Want My Money Back, May 31, 2023
Not that I haven't enjoyed the puzzle book - but shouldn't the game guide not make the game even more complicated? I've gone half blind trying to figure out the maps. Certainly my favorite is when the master map is wrong, the thumbnail picture is wrong, and the tiny map in the thumbnail picture is wrong. I feel collecting the horseshoes and photo ops is one of my greatest achievements as the guide is actively plotting against me. Even the mission guides are of little use, as all they do is tell you what the game already told you, "go upstairs", sweet. I remember the GTA III guide used to tip you off to the occasional short-cut or some such. This one both sucks and blows. I want my $14 back.

3Mis-guided, Apr 24, 2023
This guide must have been rushed. It's full of more errors than the game has glitches. If your a hardened Grand Theft fan, you'll find this a set back. If your new to Grand Theft Auto then you may come to hate the game as much as top players hate the guide. The maps pin pointing locations of Tags, Photos, Oysters, and Horseshoes are so poorly marked that you may be driven to give up the idea of completing with 100%. Equally, the guide leaves out crucial tips that define the outcome of certain actions. In short, this guide is not worth buying. You'll be much better off simply looking up tips on your computer.

Quick Tip: When getting the oysters in front of the aircraft carrier and the center of the enclosed docking Bay in San Fierro you'll get an automatic five stars. Try this, (1) Drive off the cliff at the closes corner of the airport (2) Get the helicopter and land it inside the base of the red bridge (3) Get the nearby speedboat and go for the docking bay first (back in so that you can get out quickly) next go for the front of the carrier (4) get back to the copter (because of the height of the base the police boats can't shoot you) and take off for the paint & spray next to the train station. (5) (this part is tricky) Try to fly the copter into the paint & spray. The copter will scrap the walls but once the door closes, your set. Abandon the copter and save the game. two oysters for the efforts of one.

3this guy was drunk, Apr 2, 2023
I do not know what every one elese thought about this guide but my personal opinion was that the author of it was on crack!!! I was searching for all the tags and #80 was labled wrong. Trying to find all of the photo ops was real fun when you look at the first one and it says its over looking the airport but you look on the map and it's not even close to it.......... same kind of idea for the horse shoes a few not in the places they say they are. I thought mabey I was playing a diffrent version but its a North American release. I payed way too much for this book for it not to diliver what I most wanted 100% completion! I wish I could get my money back???
